Start free — we apply for you →- Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Project Automation Technology PAT Specialist to support the deployment, configuration, integration, and optimization of our engineering design technology ecosystem. In this role, you will work closely with project teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and efficient digital project delivery across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in configuring and maintaining engineering design systems, driving automation initiatives, supporting users, and implementing innovative digital solutions that enhance project execution and information management.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Setup
- Support the identification and customization of engineering design tools to meet project-specific requirements.
- Assess, pilot, and implement automation and mass data handling opportunities across engineering systems.
- Configure and maintain design tools in alignment with engineering standards, asset tagging requirements, document numbering conventions, GIS requirements, ICBS structures, and project classification systems.
- Develop and deliver onboarding, training, and user support materials related to design tool processes and procedures.
- Establish and manage design tool templates, managed workspaces, seed files, and object libraries.
Execution & Support
- Provide and coordinate technical support for engineering design tools.
- Coordinate design file conversion and language translation processes in accordance with project requirements.
- Manage system access, user permissions, and security configurations.
- Ensure engineering design tools support project delivery requirements and maintain data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Close-Out & Continuous Improvement
- Support the archiving, handover, and close-out of project design files and data.
- Assist with the completion and transition of project information within Hatch design systems.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and digital project delivery best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 5-10 years of Information Technology experience, preferably within an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management EPCM environment.
- Strong knowledge of automation, data modelling, systems integration, validation, and verification.
- Advanced proficiency with Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Bentley OpenPlant Suite
- AVEVA Plant Suite E3D, Engineering, P&ID
- Hexagon Smart Suite 3D, Instruments, Electrical, P&ID
- Autodesk Plant 3D
- Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems and networking.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server administration and programming SQL/MySQL, databases, and data structures.
- Programming experience in one or more of the following:
- .NET
- VB/VBA
- C#/C++
- PowerShell
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred
- Software development experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure environments.
- Knowledge of BIM principles, including ISO 19650 and ISO 15926.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Expert-level MicroStation and AutoCAD capabilities.
- Experience with APIs RESTful/OpenAPI, Power BI, and Python.
