  • The Faculty of Arts and Design's Fine and Applied Arts programme in the Department of Fine And Studio Arts wishes to appoint part time staff members to teach various aspects of Fine Arts, as indicated below.

Key Functions: The candidate must be able to:

  • Setting, preparing, and conducting lectures for a specified modules.
  • Setting theoretical and/or practical projects, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Organising visits to the industry.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and other university initiatives.
  • General administration such as capturing assessment marks on the ITS system and uploading documents on the myTUTor Learning Management System.
  • Compiling study guides and other learning material for a specified modules.
  • Student consultation.

Minimum Requirements Academic Qualifications:

  • NQF Level 7 or higher for teaching Diploma modules
  • NQF Level 8 or higher for teaching Advanced Diploma modules
  • NQF Level 9 or higher for teaching Post Graduate Diploma modules
  • All of the above in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Art History or Textile Design or a relevant qualification.

PLEASE INDICATE WHICH MODULE/S YOU ARE APPLYING FOR Experience:

  • Expertise in module specific art making/design skills.
  • At least two years industry related experience as a practitioner will be an advantage.
  • At least two years of lecturing experience full-time or part-time, preferably at a University.
  • Good people skills
  • Experience in research and curriculum development is an added advantage.
  • Teaching Adobe software such as Indesign, Photoshop and Premier

  • Drawing I Drawing from life, anatomy, &drawing techniques
  • Visual Theory I Advanced knowledge of art history

SECOND YEAR

  • Digital Design I Design & software skills
  • Drawing II Drawing from life, anatomy, anddrawing techniques
  • Professional Practice I Communication & business skills
  • Visual Theory II: Africa in context Advanced knowledge of art history, particularly South African
  • Ceramics II Advanced ceramics skills
  • Fibre Arts II Advanced Fibre Arts skills
  • Glass II Advanced glass art & forming skills
  • Painting II Advanced painting skills
  • Printmaking II Advanced printmaking skills
  • Sculpture II Advanced sculpture skills
