- To adopt an aspirant view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them.
- To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach approximately 15 Music lessons per two week cycle.
- Lead the development of engaging Music history lessons.
- Provide private piano lessons.
- Be an active contributor amongst a dynamic team.
- Consistently plan, prepare and present interesting and IEB aligned Music lessons.
- Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes deep learning.
- To serve the community.
- Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, and standards of work.
- Consistently evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
- Continuously seek professional development.
- Respond to e-mails and telephone messages within 24 hours.
- Exemplify qualities of 'good', care, effort and kindness at all times.
- To attend all occasions appropriate to the position.
- To meet all appropriate timelines for action.
- Effectively set and mark assessments and all other forms of student evaluation.
- Write informative report comments.
- To undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head / Deputy Head of Academics fairly determine.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

- The ability to engage and 'interest' teenagers
- A minimum of three years' experience teaching high school Music
- The ability to contribute to a high performing team
- Previous experience with the IEB programme
- Confidence with use of ICT in teaching
- Appropriate legal right to work in a South African school
- University degree in an appropriate subject
- SACE accreditation
- A passion for the role of Educator
- A deep understanding of Music and Music history
- An unwavering commitment to the development of students
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to be a part of a team striving for growth and consistent improvement
- A continuous improvement mindset
