Job Title: Panel-Beater - George Start Date: 2026-08-31 - 2026-09-30 Vacancy Type: Permanent CAW000837 Sectors: Engineering & Technical Location: Western Cape , George Salary: (Market related) Brief: Panel-Beater (George) Our client in the auto repair fitment center is on a recruitment drive for a panel-beater to join their fast-growing team. The ideal candidate is responsible for the accurate, safe and high-quality repair and restoration of damaged motor vehicles following collision or accident damage. The role involves assessing vehicle body damage, repairing or replacing damage panels and components, carrying out structural repairs where required, and restoring vehicles to the required manufacturer, insurer and our clients quality standards. The successful candidate will be expected to work efficiently and accurately while maintaining a strong focus on workmanship, safety, productivity and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include but not limited: Vehicle Damage Assessment: Inspect damage vehicles to establish the extent of body and structural damage Identify damaged, distorted or misaligned panels and components Assess whether components can be repaired or require replacement Identify structural damage to body shells, chassis and related components Communicate additional or hidden damage to the Workshop Manager / Estimator Assist with identifying the correct repair methodology Ensure that damage is repaired in accordance with the authorised repair scope Panel Repair & Replacement: Remove damaged panels and body components Repair clients, creases and other body damage using appropriate repair techniques Assess whether components can be repaired or required replacement Repair and replace doors, fenders, bonnets, boots, quarter panels, bumpers and other body components Repair or replace brackets, mounts and related components Align and fit replacement panels accurately Ensure correct gaps, alignment and fitment between panels Carry out repairs to vehicle body structures in accordance with approved repair procedures Ensure repaired areas are properly prepared for subsequent painting and refinishing Structural Repairs: Assess and repair structural damage were qualified and authorised to do so. Operate chassis and body alignment equipment correctly Measure vehicle structures to establish correct dimensions Restore damaged structures to manufacturer specifications Ensure chassis / body alignment is accurate before the vehicle proceeds to the next stage of repair Follow approved repair procedures for modern vehicle construction and materials Welding & Specialist Repair Techniques: Perform MIG / MAG and other approved welding procedures where required and appropriately qualified Use correct welding techniques for the specific vehicle material and repair procedure Work with high-strength steels, aluminium, plastics, composites and other modern vehicle materials where applicable Follow manufacturer-approved welding and joining procedures Ensure welding equipment is operated safely and correctly Conduct appropriate checks on repaired areas before handover to the next stage of production Remove damaged vehicle components carefully and systematically Protect undamaged vehicle components during the repair process Remove and refit trim, bumpers, lights, grilles, mouldings, interior components and other associated parts Ensure components are correctly stored and labelled where necessary Reassembled repaired vehicles accurately Ensure all components are correctly secured and aligned Identify damaged components discovered during dismantling and report these to the relevant manager / estimator Vehicle Systems & Safety: Exercise care around airbags, sensors, cameras, radar systems and other vehicle safety technology Follow manufacturer procedures when working around safety-critical components Ensure that safety-related damage is identified and communicated Do not undertake work outside the employee's training or authorisation Ensure repaired vehicles are safe before progressing to the next stage of production Report any technical or safety concern immediately to Workshop Management Detail: Qualifications & Skills: Grade 12 / matric preferred or equivalent (NQF4) Recognised Panel Beating Trade qualification / artisan qualification for qualified panel beater position 3-4 years proven experience in motor body repair / panel beating Practical experience repairing accident-damage vehicles Strong technical understanding of vehicle body construction Ability to repair and replace vehicle body panels Ability to use panel beating tools and specialised equipment Knowledge of structural and non-structural vehicle repairs Ability to work accurately and safely Valid Driver's Licence - nonnegotiable show more...
