Role Description The Receptionist role at Visual Concepts Optometrist is a full-time, on-site position based in Sandton. The Receptionist will be responsible for greeting patients, answering and directing phone calls, managing appointment bookings, and maintaining an organized reception area. Day-to-day tasks include checking patients in and out, verifying and updating patient information, handling basic billing or payment queries, and coordinating schedules with optometrists and other staff. The Receptionist will also perform general clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence, while ensuring a professional and courteous experience for every patient. This role requires consistent punctuality, reliability, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy practice environment.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients. • Proficiency in receptionist duties and phone etiquette, including managing incoming calls, messages, and appointment scheduling. • Reliable clerical skills, such as filing, data entry, record keeping, and handling basic administrative tasks. • Comfort using office software and practice management systems or willingness to learn new digital tools. • Previous experience in a reception or front desk role, preferably in a healthcare or service-oriented environment. • High school matric or equivalent; additional training in office administration or healthcare support is an advantage. • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting. • Professional appearance and demeanor, with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and practice standards.
