Ops Specialist: Functional Business Analyst

Core Description

• The Functional Business Analyst role focuses on business processes, user requirements, and functional logic embedded in legacy mainframe systems. The functional BA works closely with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to map as-is processes, elicit functional requirements and define the to-be business capabilities to be implemented in the modernised application landscape.
• Key Deliverables / Primary Functions
• Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements, business rules and user needs, working closely with business stakeholders, legacy system SME's.
• Conduct detailed as-is process analysis of the legacy mainframe applications Natural/ ADABAS, business workflows.
• Define and document to-be business processes, functional requirements, and business capabilities aligned to the target architecture.
• Develop detailed process maps level 1-4, functional decomposition and business rules catalogues.
• Collaborate with Solutions and Application Architects to ensure business requirements and functionality are accurately reflected and enhanced in the target solutions designs.
• Support change management by working with business users to validate functional requirements and to prepare for adoption of modernised solutions.
• Facilitate workshops, interviews and walkthroughs with stakeholders to validate requirements and design decisions.
• Ensure Requirements governance and change control, maintaining clear versioning and traceability throughout the modernisation process/lifecycle.
• Support test planning and execution by reviewing test cases and acceptance criteria.

Minimum Qualifications

• NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Information Systems or Computer Science

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

• 5 - 10 years' experience as a Business Analyst in a complex enterprise IT environment.

Certifications

• DAMA
• Professional Memberships in Relevant Industry
