Position Overview
The company is seeking an experienced Operations Co-Ordinator to manage and coordinate logistics operations. The role is responsible for safe, efficient and cost-effective service delivery while maintaining high operational and customer-service standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and oversee daily logistics operations, including IT infrastructure, medical equipment, server racks and specialised machinery. • Coordinate complex deliveries involving rigging, staging, positioning, installations and site-specific requirements. • Conduct site assessments and ensure compliance with client SOPs, SLAs, contractual requirements and HSE standards. • Plan routes, schedules, dedicated/consolidated loads and time-critical deliveries. • Optimise the allocation and utilisation of vehicles, drivers, crews and specialised equipment. • Oversee fleet compliance, maintenance, fuel usage, tyres, vehicle tracking and driver performance. • Lead and manage drivers, van assistants and technical crews, including performance management, discipline, toolbox talks and skills development. • Ensure compliance with Dangerous Goods legislation, transport regulations, safety files and employee certification requirements. • Prepare job costings and quotations, assess labour, equipment, access and risk requirements, and identify cost-saving and margin-improvement opportunities. • Maintain strong client relationships and act as a key operational contact for queries, escalations and service coordination. • Maintain accurate operational records, job reports, incident logs and compliance documentation. • Monitor KPIs including OTIF, utilisation, productivity and cost per delivery, and prepare operational reports. • Use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for planning, analysis and reporting.
Minimum Requirements
• 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, transport, distribution or operations co-ordination/supervision. • Proven experience in route planning, scheduling and fleet/resource management. • Strong HR/IR and people-management knowledge. • Dangerous Goods knowledge; formal certification advantageous. • Experience in logistics costing, quoting and commercial support. • Microsoft Office/Excel skills. • Strong communication, organisational, problem-solving and customer-service skills. • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex, time-critical operations. • Valid driver’s licence, own transport and preferably from the West Rand.
