- Oversee daily operations including planning, scheduling routing and general fleet management.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that targets are met.
- Manage and mentor a team of drivers, fleet controllers and support staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery, including the use of subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Analyse operational data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Foster strong relationships with clients and suppliers to enhance service quality.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Grade 12.
- A formal qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Transportation or a related field will be an advantage.
- Proven experience in transport operations management, preferably in the abnormal transport industry.
- Energetic with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of cross-border abnormal transport operations.
- Experience in abnormal load permits and load configuration will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of logistics software and tracking systems is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Available after hours and over weekends to resolve any operational issues that may arise.
