- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification i.e. diploma/degree in nursing or equivalent qualification R683 plus R254 that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency or
- 4-year Bachelor Degree in Nursing R174 or equivalent qualification R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497 that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- A post graduate diploma R635 accredited in Emergency Nursing or Critical Care Nursing Adult. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.
- Experience: A minimum of 9 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 5 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate / recognisable experience after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
- Inherent requirement of the job: Work night duty on a planned schedule to relief the night manager. Willingness to work overtime, weekends and public holidays.
- Competencies knowledge/skills: Knowledge of legal framework and regulations regarding nursing practice. Good leadership and people management skills maintain constructive relationships with members of the multi-disciplinary team. Computer literacy and basic financial management skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
DUTIES
- Supervise, plan and implement the provision of effective and efficient patient care in the Emergency Centre. Participate in analysis, formulation and implementation of the nursing guidelines, practices, standards mandatory procedures.
- Provide effective leadership and management of People management, financial and physical resources to ensure optimal operational functions. Supervise, plan and implement the provision of effective and efficient infection control measures.
- Maintain professional growth/ethical standards, self-development and participate in inter-professional and multidisciplinary teamwork. Support to Supervisor and Management.
