- Basic R425 or degree in General, Psychiatry, Community and Midwife or Diploma in General Nursing with Midwifery or equivalent qualification with midwifery. Qualification in Nursing Management/Administration/Health Services Management will be an added advantage. Proof of current registration with the SANC as professional nurse.
- A minimum of 7 years appropriate /recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Computer literacy.
Duties
- Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Demonstrate an understanding of maternal guidelines, women's health regulations in regard to CTOP and Colpo services.
- Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope practice and nursing standards as determined by the facility. Facilitate and oversee the development and implementation of operational/business plans. Facilitate and oversee staff development. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to ensure good nursing care.
- Monitor utilization of Financial and Human resources. Conduct periodic audits and develop quality improvement plans in line with Ideal Hospital Realization.
- Demonstrate understanding of Infection prevention and control guidelines. Maintain professional/ethical standards and self-development, promoting the image of the nursing profession and the hospital. Provision of effective support to nursing service: do relief duties calls as required by the service.
- Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors, other health professionals and junior colleagues, including more complex report writing when required.
- Able to manage own work, time and that of junior colleagues to ensure proper nursing service. Able to develop contacts, build and maintain networks of professional relations in order to enhance service delivery. Display strong leadership abilities and problem-solving skills. Research skills to advise Hospital Management.
