REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB
- NQF 7 qualification in a relevant discipline Computer Science or Information Systems and 6 years' professional experience in software development, OR a relevant NQF8 qualification plus 3 years' professional experience in software development.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting web-based applications, with a strong focus on systems integration, API development, expansion and integration of third-party services, and related technologies.
- Demonstrated competence in client-side web development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript and strong server-side development experience using languages such as Java and Python including experience working with XML, JSON, RESTful APIs, and relational databases.
- Understanding of software development practices including version control, testing methodologies, debugging, and secure application development principles.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative development environment.
- Competent oral and written professional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ADVANTAGEOUS
- Supporting online learning environments in a Higher Education context.
- Experience using AI-supported coding and software development tools to improve development quality, productivity, testing, code review processes, and delivery speed.
- eLearning experience in another context.
- Experience with audio and video technologies and Lecture Capture systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO
Developing, customising and supporting
- Integrations between PeopleSoft and Amathuba D2L Brightspace.
- Opencast Lecture Capture system
- Monitoring and reporting services
- Other eLearning tools hosted by CILT.
