- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualifications that allow registration with the Health Professions Council as an Occupational Therapist. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the Health Professions Council HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience
- Grade 1 : None after registration as Occupational Therapist with the HPCSA in respect of SA qualified employees. One-year relevant experience after registration as Occupational Therapist with the HPCSA in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Grade 2 : A minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Grade 3 : A minimum of 20 years' relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Inherent requirement of the job: A valid driver's license. Willingness to travel in the sub-district/district to consult clients and attend meetings and training sessions.
- Competencies knowledge/skills: Good communication skills. Ability to function/make decisions independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Good communication, interpersonal relationships. Knowledge of applicable health legislation, relevant acts and policies. Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a resource-constrained environment.
DUTIES
- Clinical Occupational therapy services at health facility level, district hospital and PHC facilities. Training of self and other staff members. Render community based occupational therapy service in line with community orientated primary healthcare. Administrative duties, complete documentation of all services rendered. Provide health promotion, training, and community service intervention. Render mobility assistive device service.
