Our client is an established enterprise with a large, distributed operating environment and a business-critical technology estate. The organisation is investing in resilient, secure and better-performing infrastructure across multiple sites, creating an opportunity for an intermediate Network Engineer to step into meaningful second-line ownership rather than narrow ticket handling. Performance Objectives for Year One
- Stabilise escalated network support: Take ownership of Level 2 incidents across WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN and firewall environments, resolving issues with clear root-cause notes and permanent-fix thinking.
- Deliver clean network changes: Implement approved router, switch, firewall, wireless, VLAN, VPN and routing changes with proper testing, rollback planning and configuration documentation.
- Improve network performance visibility: Use monitoring tools to identify recurring performance issues, bandwidth constraints or site-level instability, and recommend practical improvements.
- Strengthen security hygiene: Support firewall-rule maintenance, access-control changes, patching and vulnerability remediation in partnership with cybersecurity teams.
- Contribute to network projects: Provide hands-on technical input, testing and documentation for initiatives such as SD-WAN, Wi-Fi rollouts, migrations, upgrades or refresh work.
- Raise team capability: Create or improve playbooks, configuration notes and best-practice guides that help Level 1 engineers resolve common issues faster and escalate cleaner.
