Job Description

  • The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and support of IT infrastructure with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure and assisting with the server environment. This role ensures reliable connectivity, optimal performance, and robust security across all network systems within various client environments.

Main Responsibilities

Network / Server Management and Support

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of server and Network infrastructure
  • Design and deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.
  • Install and configure network hardware routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Implement and manage network security measures VPNs, firewalls, intrusion detection.
  • Maintain network documentation and configuration records.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on upgrades and expansions.
  • Provide technical support and training to users.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Monitor server performance and respond to alerts
  • Perform routine server maintenance tasks
  • Provide first and second-line support for server-related issues

Patching and Updates

  • Implement and maintain a regular patching schedule for servers and Network infrastructure components
  • Test patches in a controlled environment before deployment
  • Apply security updates and patches in a timely manner
  • Document all patching activities and maintain patch logs

Vulnerability Management

  • Assist in conducting regular vulnerability scans of the infrastructure
  • Help identify and prioritise vulnerabilities based on severity and potential impact
  • Support the implementation of remediation measures for identified vulnerabilities
  • Maintain documentation of vulnerability management activities

Infrastructure Support

  • Provide technical support for infrastructure-related issues
  • Assist in troubleshooting network, storage, and server problems
  • Participate in infrastructure maintenance activities
  • Help maintain infrastructure documentation and procedures

Required Capabilities

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Basic knowledge of server operating systems
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic understanding of security principles and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and documentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
  • Proven experience with configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Exposure to cloud networking and hybrid environments is advantageous.

Minimum Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or CCNP are highly preferred.
