We are sourcing for a Network and Security Engineer (Intermediate) role. Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity solutions.
  • Administer and support network devices, including routers, switches, wireless controllers, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network security policies.
  • Support Identity and Access Management (IAM), network access control (NAC), and secure authentication solutions.
  • Perform network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution for connectivity and security issues.
  • Conduct routine vulnerability assessments and implement security patches and configuration hardening.
  • Assist with the implementation of network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Maintain network monitoring, logging, and reporting solutions.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to implement secure networking solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity planning.

Requirements

  • National Diploma in IT or Certificate (NQF 6) or equivalent
  • IT Networks certification (Cisco: CCNA or equivalent)
  • Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate
  • FortiGate Network Security Expert (advantageous).
  • HPE Aruba Networking certification (advantageous).
  • ITIL foundation certification (advantageous).
  • 3–5 years of experience in network administration, network engineering, or network security.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies and security solutions.
  • Experience administering Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, or equivalent networking platforms.
  • Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts, routing, switching, VPNs, wireless networking, and firewalls.
  • Basic understanding of cloud networking within AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
