The duties and responsibilities of the Monitoring & Evaluation M&E Officer will include, but not limited to:

  • Review IP monthly reports for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness; address data gaps or errors and alert managers to major issues.
  • Clean and correct raw data, maintain oversight of electronic data systems, and contribute to updating data collection tools.
  • Ensure IPs use standardized data collection tools consistently and maintain accurate paper and electronic records.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly data verification, including extensive site visits, and provide feedback to IPs and managers.
  • Prepare IPs for external audits and verification visits, and recommend methods to improve data quality.
  • Mentor and train partners on M&E philosophy, indicators, tools, and systems; provide technical support and represent NACOSA in stakeholder engagements.
  • Deliver internal presentations on M&E materials and provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly data analysis to inform programming and funder reporting.
  • Assist managers with preparation of reports, presentations, and publications for internal and external audiences.
  • Motivate employees, support HR processes recruitment, orientation, disciplinary, attendance, and implement performance management plans.
  • Provide training and mentoring to interns, team leaders, and M&E champions; develop improvement plans and support debriefing sessions.
  • Perform ad hoc departmental tasks, support managers in data-related meetings, and stand in for colleagues or supervisors when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Science, Public Health, or related discipline preferred; prior relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an M&E function, including monitoring data quality, capacity development of field staff, and coordinating teams.
  • Proficiency in English plus one other South African language African language highly advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license; SAMEA membership advantageous.
  • Experience using data management systems and MS Office, with proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
