An exciting opportunity exists for a recently qualified Millwright to join a growing capital projects team specialising in the construction, installation and commissioning of industrial water treatment plants.
This role offers excellent exposure to both project-based construction work and operational support, making it ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in the water treatment industry.
The successful candidate will work from a workshop in Centurion as well as travel to client sites across South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for
- Assisting with the installation, assembly and commissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment for water treatment plants
- Fabrication, fitting and maintenance of pumps, motors, tanks and associated plant equipment
- Supporting project engineers and senior millwrights during construction and commissioning projects
- Participating in water treatment plant commissioning activities
- Working alongside the Control & Instrumentation team on PLC-controlled systems
- Ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and environmental standards
You will also provide operational support by
- Assisting with plant operations and performance monitoring
- Supporting maintenance, repairs and equipment upgrades
- Instrument calibration
- Chemical dosing preparation and stock control
- General housekeeping
- Assisting with Occupational Health & Safety requirements, including HAZOP activities
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified Millwright (trade certificate essential)
- Valid Code B driver's licence
- Valid passport
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Computer literate (MS Word and MS Excel)
- Medically fit to work on industrial sites and at heights
- Willing and able to travel nationally
Experience & Skills
Candidates should ideally have exposure to
- Water treatment plants (learnership experience will be considered)
- Mechanical and electrical installations
- Plant commissioning and equipment operation
- Occupational Health & Safety practices
- Mild steel welding (MIG, TIG and Arc)
- Panel wiring, instrumentation and controls (advantageous)
Additional experience in any of the following will be beneficial
- Industrial construction sites
- Water treatment processes
- Single and three-phase electrical installations
- Electrical and instrumentation equipment
