Millwright

Introduction

My client is seeking a qualified and experienced Millwright to join their team in Uitenhage. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs, plant commissioning support and breakdown maintenance across operational water and wastewater sites.

The role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, with hands-on experience working on industrial equipment and machinery.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct onsite mechanical and electrical maintenance on plant and equipment.

• Perform fault finding, troubleshooting and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.

• Conduct preventative and breakdown maintenance.

• Work on decanters, centrifuges, blowers and various types of pumps .

• Fault-find and maintain electrical control panels, industrial electronics, PLCs, VSDs and electric motors .

• Assist with the commissioning of water and wastewater treatment plants.

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and implement effective repairs.

• Assist with maintaining plant performance and equipment reliability.

• Complete general housekeeping and ensure work areas are maintained to a safe standard.

• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company safety procedures.

• Work independently while collaborating effectively with the broader maintenance and operations team.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Qualified Millwright with a recognised apprenticeship and completed trade test.

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience .

• Strong mechanical maintenance experience, particularly with:

• Decanters.

• Centrifuges.

• Blowers.

• Pumps.

• Strong electrical experience, particularly with:

• Electrical control panels.

• Industrial electronics.

• PLCs.

• VSDs.

• Various types of motors.

• Basic MS Office skills.

• Sound understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSH Act) .

• Valid Driver's Licence .

• N3 Water and Wastewater qualification would be advantageous.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Millwright with at least 3 years' industrial maintenance experience , with strong mechanical and electrical capabilities.

Experience working with pumps, centrifuges, decanters, blowers, PLCs, VSDs, control panels and motors is required. Exposure to water and wastewater environments and plant commissioning would be advantageous.
