Minimum Requirements A minimum of five years’ experience as a programmer or software developer. Strong SQL, database analysis and troubleshooting skills. Practical programming experience in one or more of the following technologies: C++, C, C#, Java and SQL. Sound understanding of the software development lifecycle, system integrations, source-code management, testing, deployment and application support. Willingness to learn COBOL, the specialised Milas development toolkit and its associated architecture and deployment model. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science will be advantageous. Key Performance Areas IT Operations: Run Support Monitor and support Milas applications, databases, integrations and reporting components to maintain stable and reliable business operations. Investigate incidents and service requests, conduct root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions within agreed service levels. Analyse business requirements and system changes to identify potential impacts across processes, applications and integrations. Collaborate with Animal Feeds stakeholders and internal IT teams while escalating critical incidents, risks and dependencies appropriately. IT Operations: Enhancements Translate documented business requirements into secure, maintainable and user-friendly system enhancements. Design, develop, test and implement solutions using structured, reusable and efficient coding practices. Participate in code reviews, debugging and defect resolution to protect application quality and stability. Identify opportunities to improve and modernise Milas, its integrations, reporting components and supporting business processes, while complying with approved development and deployment controls. Team Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer Build specialist Milas technical and business knowledge through structured knowledge transfer and practical involvement in support and development activities. Document application architecture, business rules, integrations, configurations, deployments and operational dependencies. Share knowledge through clear documentation, walkthroughs and collaboration with relevant team members. Provide support during incidents, testing and implementations, and communicate progress, risks and dependencies clearly and timeously. IT Governance, Risk and Compliance Apply AFGRI’s IT governance, information security, software development lifecycle and change-control requirements. Ensure that system changes are approved, tested, documented, traceable and supported by the required evidence. Maintain appropriate controls over application access, elevated rights, user profiles and production deployments. Identify and escalate risks relating to system stability, data integrity, integrations and access control, while maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes. Technical Competencies Strong SQL, database analysis and troubleshooting capability. Programming proficiency in relevant technologies, including C++, C, C#, Java and SQL. Ability to produce clean, secure, reusable and maintainable code. Sound knowledge of software development, integration, testing, release and deployment practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including assessing the impact of changes across integrated systems. Ability to prepare clear technical documentation and communicate technical concepts effectively. Willingness to learn COBOL, Milas-specific technologies and relevant emerging technologies.
