- Grade 10, 11 or 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent qualification
- 2-3 years' previous operating experience in a mineral processing environment, preferably gold
- Knowledge of SCADA and AMI administration will be advantageous
- Relevant mineral processing or metallurgical plant qualification/certificate
- Previous operational experience within a metallurgical or mineral processing plant is required.
- Experience within scrubber, milling and/or CIL operations will be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of plant operating procedures and process equipment.
- Basic understanding of process monitoring and control principles.
- Ability to read and record process measurements accurately.
- Basic computer literacy will be advantageous.
- You must be medically fit to work in a mining and metallurgical plant environment.
- The candidate must be willing and able to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime according to operational requirements.
- Independent judgement, initiative and interpersonal communication skills are required
- Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
- Ability to diagnose problems and troubleshoot thereof
- Capable of completing repetitive tasks at a consistent standard
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of processing technologies and equipment
- South African Citizenship

Responsibilities
- Operating and monitoring metallurgical plant equipment within the assigned section.
- Conducting pre-start inspections and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for operation.
- Starting, operating, and shutting down plant equipment in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures SOPs is also part of the role.
- Monitoring process parameters, equipment performance and material flow to maintain stable plant operations.
- Conducting regular plant inspections and identifying abnormalities such as leaks, spillages, blockages, excessive vibration, abnormal noise, and equipment deterioration.
- Taking appropriate first-line action within the scope of authority when operational deviations occur.
- Immediately reporting equipment defects, process deviations and unsafe conditions to the supervisor or relevant maintenance personnel.
- Monitoring and controlling feed rates, flow rates, densities, levels and other relevant process parameters where applicable.
- Assisting with optimisation of plant performance, throughput and recovery.
- Conducting routine sampling and basic process checks where required.
- Recording operating readings and completing production logs, checklists and shift reports accurately.
- Communicating plant status, abnormalities and outstanding activities during shift handovers.
- Assisting with plant start-ups following maintenance activities or shutdowns.
- Supporting maintenance personnel during breakdowns and planned maintenance is also part of the role.
- Ensuring plant areas, equipment, platforms and walkways are maintained to acceptable housekeeping standards.
- Performing other operational duties as reasonably instructed by the supervisor.
