- Grade 10, 11, 12, or equivalent qualification
- Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
- Previous experience as a Boilermaker Aide, Engineering Assistant or Artisan Aide will be advantageous.
- Previous experience within a metallurgical plant, mineral processing plant or mining environment will be advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of boilermaking, fabrication and mechanical maintenance activities.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the supervision of a qualified Artisan.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual work.
- Must be medically fit to work in a mining and metallurgical plant environment.
- Willing and able to work shifts, overtime, standby and during planned plant shutdowns when required.Medically fit to work in a mining and metallurgical plant environment.

Responsibilities
- Assisting qualified Boilermakers with fabrication, maintenance, installation and repair activities.
- Assisting with the fabrication and repair of chutes, launders, hoppers, tanks, bins, guards, platforms and structural steelwork.
- Assisting with cutting, grinding, drilling, measuring, marking and preparation of materials.
- Preparing steel and other materials for welding and fabrication activities.
- Assisting with the removal and installation of damaged or worn plant components.
- Holding, positioning and securing materials and components during fabrication and installation.
- Assisting with basic welding and cutting activities where authorised and competent to do so.
- Assisting with the erection and dismantling of steel structures and plant components.
- Supporting Boilermakers during plant breakdowns, planned maintenance and shutdown activities.
- Cleaning and preparing work areas before and after maintenance activities.
- Ensuring tools, equipment and materials are correctly handled, cleaned and stored.
- Reporting damaged tools, equipment defects and unsafe conditions to the responsible Artisan or Supervisor.
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards within workshops and plant areas.
- Carrying out lawful and reasonable instructions provided by the Boilermaker or Supervisor.Always take instructions from the supervisors responsible for the shift
