Requirements

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatric. Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Paediatric and or Paediatric Pulmonology.
  • No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatric. The following will be added advantages: Experience in Paediatric Pulmonology after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist and/or subspecialist registration in Paediatric Pulmonology.

Duties

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive clinical management of patients with pulmonary disorders and critically ill neonates and children within the Combined Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit NICU/PICU. The incumbent will provide and coordinate clinical service delivery, including operational, post-intake, follow-up, and grand ward rounds.
  • Ensuring the provision of high-quality, evidence-based patient care. The post holder will be required to supervise, train, teach and mentor registrars, medical officers, intern doctors, and undergraduate and post graduate students in clinical management, patient care, and the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate exemplary professional conduct, serving as a role model, clinical mentor, and leader within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • The successful candidate will actively participate in and contribute to departmental research activities, including the supervision of MMed research projects and the promotion of academic and clinical scholarship. The incumbent will provide specialist medical support, guidance, and consultation to members of the multidisciplinary team and contribute to the achievement of departmental and institutional objectives.
  • Furthermore, the incumbent will be required to comply with the Public Service Performance Management and Development System PMDS and perform any other duties associated with the efficient functioning of the department and the delivery of specialist healthcare services.
