Introduction

Pinelands Family Practice is a well-established family medical practice committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred healthcare.

We are seeking a professional, organised and patient-focused Medical Receptionist / Practice Administrator to join our team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a critical role in creating a positive patient experience while ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the practice.

The successful candidate will be warm, friendly and caring while remaining professional, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities in a busy medical environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and provide a professional and caring first point of contact
  • Manage patient communication via telephone, email, WhatsApp, SMS and face-to-face interactions
  • Schedule, amend and coordinate doctor appointments and diaries
  • Proactively manage appointment availability, cancellations and waiting lists
  • Take ownership of patient administrative queries and ensure effective follow-through
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update patient information on the practice management system
  • Monitor and respond to digital communications in a professional and timeous manner
  • Process patient payments and issue receipts
  • Provide basic accounts support when required
  • Liaise with doctors, laboratories, pharmacies and service providers
  • Perform general reception, administration and practice support duties
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with practice policies at all times
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures where required

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in a medical reception or healthcare administration role
  • Previous experience within a family medical practice will be highly advantageous
  • Experience with Healthbridge and/or Practice Perfect advantageous
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with demanding or distressed patients
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong administrative and problem-solving skills
  • Own transport and a valid driver's licence advantageous

Package & Remuneration

Market-related remuneration package offered and dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
