Introduction

A well-established specialist medical practice in Somerset West, Cape Town is seeking to recruit an experienced Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, well-established practice with a large administrative team supporting multiple specialists across several private hospitals and day hospitals. The successful candidate will provide operational leadership, drive process improvements, and support the continued growth and digital transformation of the practice.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the practice
  • Lead, manage, and support the administrative, reception, and billing teams
  • Ensure the efficient management of specialist billing, debtor processes, and financial administration
  • Monitor and improve administrative workflows and operational efficiency
  • Assist with the implementation of digital systems and continuous process improvements
  • Liaise with specialists, hospitals, surgeons, and other healthcare stakeholders
  • Manage human resources, staff performance, recruitment, and general practice administration
  • Monitor operational performance and prepare management reports where required
  • Ensure compliance with practice policies, healthcare regulations, and industry standards
  • Manage supplier relationships, contracts, and operational resources
  • Support strategic planning and practice growth initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Previous experience as a Practice Manager within a private specialist medical practice
  • Strong leadership and people management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist medical accounts, billing, and medical aid processes
  • Experience managing debtor administration and financial workflows
  • Sound Human Resources knowledge and experience
  • Strong financial acumen; an accounting or finance background will be advantageous
  • Experience managing a large administrative team and multiple stakeholders
  • Computer literate with experience using practice management software
  • Ability to learn new systems; full training will be provided on the practice's proprietary software
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and administrative skills
