- Appropriate qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Medical Physicist. Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist.
- No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa.
- SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Sound knowledge of radiotherapy physics and radiation safety principles. Experience/competence in LINAC QA, dosimetry, treatment planning systems, and clinical protocols.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, good communication and report-writing skills. Computer literacy and strong analytical/problem-solving skills. Knowledge of relevant legislation, norms/standards and hospital governance frameworks for medical use of ionising radiation.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive clinical radiotherapy physics services supporting safe and effective patient treatment. Perform and manage routine, monthly and annual QA/QC for linear accelerators, imaging systems, and associated radiotherapy equipment.
- Undertake/participle in commissioning, acceptance testing, beam modelling, validation and implementation of new equipment, techniques and software. Deliver patient-specific QA, contribute to advanced techniques where applicable, and ensure compliance with departmental protocols. Support treatment planning processes: dosimetry audits, plan reviews, reference data management and optimisation initiatives.
- Participate in incident learning risk management, investigations, CAPA implementation and continuous quality improvement. Provide radiation protection and safety support in Radiotherapy. Contribute to teaching, training, mentorship and research in an academic hospital environment. Participate in after-hours/on-call support as required to ensure continuity of clinical service.
