  • Seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, execution and successful delivery of mechanical engineering projects across South Africa and the African continent.
  • This is a hands-on role combining mechanical design, project engineering, fault-finding, client engagement and on-site project support. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from initial planning and design through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
  • The role is suited to a committed and driven Mechanical Engineer looking for a long-term opportunity within a growing engineering environment. Experience working with industrial rotating equipment, including gearboxes, turbines and blowers, will be highly advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years' experience as a mechanical engineering and/or project engineering specific to rotating equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor – essential
  • Experience supporting or managing mechanical projects from design through to commissioning
  • Confident communicating directly with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities
  • Experience with rotating equipment such as industrial gearboxes, turbines or blowers highly advantageous
  • Willing and able to travel nationally and across Africa for approximately four to six weeks per project
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical engineering design and the development of practical technical solutions
  • Produce and review mechanical drawings using Autodesk Inventor
  • Support the planning and execution of projects from inception through to installation and commissioning
  • Conduct fault-finding, technical investigations and root-cause analysis
  • Monitor project progress, technical requirements, quality standards and deadlines
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, progress updates and client feedback
  • Participate in quality assurance and ensure compliance with relevant project standards
  • Support research and development initiatives and identify opportunities for system optimisation
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal project teams
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
  • Represent the business professionally during site visits and project assignments across Africa
