Our client, a well-established mechanical and electrical consulting engineering practice, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fire Engineer to join their Cape Town building services team. This role suits a registered engineer who wants to specialise in fire engineering design across a diverse portfolio of offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare, residential, data centre and warehouse projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage projects through Stages 1–6, from inception and concept design through detail design, tender, and project close-out
- Conduct fire risk analyses and prepare rational fire designs
- Detail-design active and passive fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA, BS, SANS and ASIB regulations and codes of practice
- Apply engineering calculations for automatic sprinklers, smoke detection, evacuation systems, smoke ventilation, hydraulic design, and gas suppression systems
- Plan, organise and control complete projects from a technical and delivery perspective
- Prepare and present technical reports, financial reports and tender documentation
Desired Experience & Qualification
- B.Tech / BSc / B Eng (Mechanical)
- Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng)
