Mechanical Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer Pumps & Fire Systems

Introduction

Our client, a specialist in submersible pumps and fire protection equipment, is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys being technically involved and hands-on, but who also has the personality and commercial aptitude to work closely with customers, understand their requirements and ultimately provide the right technical solution.

The successful candidate will gain comprehensive exposure to the company's specialised pump and fire protection systems and will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the equipment, applications and operational requirements.

While previous pump experience would certainly be beneficial, the company is equally interested in an experienced engineer who has a strong mechanical background, good electrical knowledge and the ability and willingness to learn a specialised product range.

The longer-term focus of the position will include technical sales and solution-based selling, making this particularly attractive to an engineer who wants to combine technical expertise with customer engagement and commercial responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will receive product-specific training and gain exposure to both submersible pump and fire protection applications. The role offers the opportunity to become involved in technical assessments, system requirements, customer solutions and ultimately the sales of pumps and integrated systems.

This position would suit someone who has already established a solid engineering foundation but is looking for an opportunity offering greater technical variety, customer interaction and career progression.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Mechanical Engineering qualification relevant trade/SETA qualification, Diploma or Degree

• Approximately 5/10 years' relevant engineering experience

• Strong mechanical knowledge with a good practical understanding of electrical systems

• Experience within pumps, rotating equipment, industrial equipment, mechanical systems or a related technical environment would be advantageous

• Able and willing to be hands-on when required

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

• CAD knowledge advantageous

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

• Confident communication and interpersonal skills

• Commercial aptitude and an interest in developing further within technical sales

• Self-motivated, adaptable and willing to learn the company's specialised products and systems

• Ideally residing within reasonable travelling distance of Tunney

Package & Remuneration

R25 000.00 to R40 000.00 depending on experience and qualifications
