Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Heavy Engineering | Offshore & Subsea Start Date: 2026-08-06 - 2026-09-05 Vacancy Type: Fixed Term Contract NCM003314 Sectors: Mechanical Location: Western Cape , Cape Town: South Peninsula Salary: (Market related, Negotiable) Brief: An exciting opportunity exists for a talented Mechanical Engineer to join a highly specialised engineering organisation delivering complex equipment and solutions to the heavy engineering, offshore, oil & gas, and subsea industries. This role is suited to a technically strong engineer who enjoys innovative design, problem-solving, and managing engineering projects from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of engineered products while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers and clients to ensure the highest standards of quality and technical excellence. Detail: Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering (Approximately 70%) Design and develop mechanical equipment and engineered solutions. Perform engineering calculations using first principles and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) where required. Produce detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Compile complete manufacturing documentation, including: Bills of Materials (BOMs) Quality Control Plans (QCPs) Work Instructions Technical Manuals Liaise with and manage external vendors during the fabrication and manufacturing process. Provide technical guidance and support throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and quality requirements. Project Engineering (Approximately 30%) Manage engineering projects from initiation through to successful delivery. Prepare quotations and oversee project execution. Coordinate procurement activities and logistics. Plan resources and project schedules. Review inspection reports and engineering documentation. Compile and submit project data books. Monitor manufacturing progress, quality control activities and project close-out. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree (BEng or BSc) in Mechanical Engineering. Approximately 3 years' post-graduate experience in a mechanical engineering design environment. Demonstrated experience within the heavy engineering, offshore, oil & gas or subsea sectors. Strong mechanical design capability with a genuine passion for engineering innovation. Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings. Experience performing engineering calculations and applying FEA techniques. Good understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication and engineering documentation. Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills. Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving abilities.
