Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support to production and maintenance operations
- Investigate mechanical breakdowns and recurring equipment failures
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective engineering solutions
- Manage mechanical projects from planning through to implementation
- Support machinery installations, modifications and commissioning
- Review and develop mechanical drawings and technical specifications
- Improve equipment reliability and plant availability
- Assist with preventative maintenance strategy development
- Identify opportunities for process and equipment optimisation
- Work with maintenance teams to improve mechanical equipment performance
- Coordinate contractors and service providers on engineering projects
- Monitor project progress, quality and technical compliance
- Support capital projects and plant upgrades
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety and engineering standards
Minimum Requirements
- Matric
- BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 - 5 Years engineering experience in a plastic/ packaging manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of mechanical plant and production equipment
- Experience with engineering projects and equipment commissioning
- Understanding of mechanical maintenance and reliability principles
- Ability to interpret technical and mechanical drawings
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Good project planning and coordination abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a production environment
