This role is responsible for improving plant reliability, driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing engineering projects, and ensuring manufacturing equipment operates at optimum efficiency. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and is passionate about improving manufacturing processes and equipment performance. Detail: Key Responsibilities Provide engineering support to production and maintenance teams to maximise plant availability and equipment reliability. Design, develop, and implement mechanical improvements to manufacturing equipment and production processes. Manage engineering projects from concept through to implementation, including budgeting, planning, installation, commissioning, and handover. Investigate recurring equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions using Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and cost savings. Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and statutory requirements. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to improve operational performance. Monitor engineering KPIs and prepare technical reports and recommendations. Manage external contractors and engineering service providers during projects and shutdowns. Assist with machine upgrades, plant expansions, and capital expenditure projects. Ensure engineering documentation, drawings, maintenance procedures, and equipment records are kept up to date. Minimum Requirements BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience within corrugated packaging, paper, converting, FMCG, printing, or similar continuous manufacturing industries will be highly advantageous. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial machinery. Experience managing engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with CMMS or maintenance management systems will be advantageous. Valid driver's licence. Advantageous Experience Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, or Six Sigma exposure. AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software. Experience with packaging or converting machinery. Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment and automated production lines. Knowledge of ISO Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety Management Systems. show more...
