This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled individual to contribute to the design, development, and manufacture of product components, assemblies, tooling, and production equipment. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating accurate technical drawings, maintaining manufacturing data, and supporting cross-functional engineering and production teams. Exciting Opportunity: Contract: 12 Weeks (3 - Months) Department: Product Design and Development Salary: R25 000 – R32 000 Detail: Requirements: National Diploma (NDip) or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Draughting, Multi-disciplinary Draughting, or a related field. Minimum 2 years' draughting experience within a manufacturing environment. Proficient in CAD software (preferably SolidEdge). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawing standards and ISO drawing practices. Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Experience with technical drawings, CAD modelling, and manufacturing data packs. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage revisions, document control, and change management processes. Strong technical communication and teamwork skills. Ability to interpret conceptual drawings and translate design concepts into detailed manufacturing drawings. Understanding of basic manufacturing processes, including: Press/draw-forming Injection moulding CNC machining Metal fabrication Basic understanding of steel and plastic engineering materials. Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently, take accountability, and manage multiple tasks. Advantageous Skills: CAM software experience. Knowledge of CNC machining equipment, programming, and capabilities. Exposure to press-tooling design. Responsibilities: Generate accurate and detailed Manufacturing Data Packs, including CAD models, technical drawings, and 2D/3D manufacturing deliverables. Maintain product data management systems and update manufacturing documentation across product categories. Manage engineering files and documentation according to company standards. Collaborate with production, quality control, and technical teams to ensure drawings align with manufacturing requirements. Complete multiple draughting projects and tasks according to project deadlines. Convert conceptual designs, sketches, and verbal instructions into detailed technical drawings. Measure physical products and tooling components using industry-standard measurement equipment and recreate accurate drawings. Produce product Bills of Materials (BOMs) for costing and production requirements. Maintain accurate revision control and drawing standards. Ensure all draughting work meets quality and company procedures. Engage with procurement teams and suppliers regarding outsourced manufacturing requirements. Participate in product development meetings and provide input on design improvements and solutions.
