Mechanical Design Engineer - Product Development and Consulting
What You'll Do
- Lead product development projects end-to-end, from concept through detailed design, prototyping, and release.
- Own client consulting engagements — assessing customer design workflows, CAD standards, and engineering processes, and recommending improvements.
- Develop and review complex CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with design release and revision control processes.
- Apply advanced Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
- Present recommendations, and run technical demonstrations, workshops, and training sessions for client teams.
- Build and manage relationships with international clients, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team capability development.
- Work independently on complex problems while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary and international teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
What We're Looking For
- BEng (Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering) qualification. (Master’s would be a big plus!)
- (3-5) or (8–10) years' experience in mechanical design, product development, AND engineering consulting.
- Strong design software experience, with a track record of leading design projects.
- Deep understanding of drawings, BOMs, revision control, manufacturing, and design release processes.
- Proven experience consulting with clients — able to engage confidently with engineering managers, technical teams, and international stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project delivery skills, with the ability to work independently and lead within a team.
- Experience working with international clients, ideally across multiple regions and time zones.
- Experience with PDM, PLM, ERP, or engineering data management systems.
- Exposure to FEA, CFD, or other simulation tools.
- Experience with design automation, templates, workflows, or engineering process improvement.
