Mechanical Design Engineer

A leading supplier of heavy equipment solutions to the mining, construction, and industrial sectors is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its specialist engineering team. Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

• BEng Mechanical Engineering

• 3+ years' mechanical design experience

• Experience with heavy equipment, mining machinery, mobile equipment, or industrial machinery

• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar CAD software

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty equipment applications.

• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and 3D models.

• Perform engineering calculations and finite element analysis where required.

• Develop design modifications to improve equipment performance and reliability.

• Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and recommend corrective solutions.

• Liaise with production, procurement, and field service teams.

• Ensure designs comply with international engineering standards and safety requirements.

• Review supplier designs and manufactured components.

• Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.

• Investigate opportunities for product improvement and cost reduction.

• Assist with technical documentation and design change management.

• Provide engineering support during equipment assembly, commissioning, and field operation.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and performance.
