Mechanical Design Engineer

Introduction

Hemisphere Talent Solutions is working with a US client in building a remote team of experienced Mechanical Design Engineers to support US-based engineering, manufacturing and product development companies. Successful candidates will work remotely alongside US engineering teams, contributing to mechanical design, product development and manufacturing projects.

Working Arrangement: Remote from South Africa, with agreed overlap with US business hours.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop 3D mechanical models, assemblies and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.

Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications and engineering documentation.

Support product development, design modifications and engineering change processes.

Apply GD&T and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles.

Collaborate with US engineers, manufacturing teams and project stakeholders.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design.

3–8 years of mechanical design experience.

Proficiency in SolidWorks , PTC Creo , Siemens NX or CATIA .

Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T , manufacturing processes and technical drawings.

Experience with PDM/PLM systems such as SolidWorks PDM, Windchill or Teamcenter advantageous.

Excellent English communication and ability to work remotely with US teams.

Preferred: Experience supporting US manufacturing clients, ASME standards and imperial (inch-based) engineering drawings.
