Our client, a well-established transformer manufacturer based in Wadeville, is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyse, interpret and maintain complex databases.
- Execute mechanical design dalculations (technical, parts, materials, etc).
- Execute mechanical designs for transformer active-parts and tanks.
- Review designs of peers and release engineering documentation for production.
- A ssist various departments (sales, proposals, contracts, PCP, etc) with technical queries.
- Analyse & interpret customer specifications, schedules, special Requirements, etc.
- Analyse national and international technical standards, conduct research, etc.
- Train & support junior design engineers (design, software, processes, etc).
- Participate in quality control / assurance activities (inspections, etc).
- Assist in preparing, updating and reviewing technical standards.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric.
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
Valid drivers' license.
Minimum of 5-years experience in the transformer industry.
Knowledge of mechanical design calculations / simulations.
Knowledge of transformer manufacturing/similar.
Ability to work with standard and customised design software.
Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks software (advantageous).
Syspro knowledge and or other ERP systems like SAP.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communication and making presentations.
