The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the engineering team and contribute to the delivery of technically complex projects across a range of industrial and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and reviewing mechanical engineering designs and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, clients, suppliers and contractors. This role is ideally suited to a mechanically strong engineer who enjoys design, problem-solving and multidisciplinary project work and who is comfortable operating within a consulting, EPC and EPCM environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical engineering and design activities across various projects.
- Develop mechanical designs from conceptual and basic engineering through to detailed design .
- Prepare and review mechanical engineering calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical reports.
- Develop and review mechanical layouts, equipment arrangements and general arrangement drawings.
- Prepare and review mechanical equipment specifications and procurement documentation.
- Assist with equipment selection and technical evaluations.
- Review supplier and vendor drawings, data sheets and technical documentation.
- Develop mechanical design solutions in accordance with project specifications, applicable standards and client requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical designs with process, piping, electrical, control & instrumentation and civil/structural engineering disciplines .
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
- Identify design risks, technical constraints and opportunities for optimisation.
- Provide technical input during procurement and vendor selection processes.
- Provide engineering support during fabrication, construction, installation and commissioning.
- Conduct site inspections, surveys and technical investigations where required.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical design and site-related issues.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet required quality, budget and project schedule requirements .
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation and project records.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers where required.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Contribute to feasibility studies, tenders, proposals and project execution strategies.

- Manufacturing and Industrial Facilities
Minimum Requirements
- BEng / BSc / Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ years' relevant mechanical engineering/design experience , preferably within a consulting, EPC or EPCM environment.
- Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, design practices and relevant standards.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams .
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience with mechanical equipment design and/or selection.
- Proficiency in relevant 3D CAD and engineering design software .
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- ECSA registration (Pr Eng) would be advantageous.
