Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services Location: Cape Town, Western Cape Experience: 3+ years Employment: Permanent Industry: Consulting Engineering / Building Services Role Overview We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 3 years of relevant experience to join an established multidisciplinary building-services engineering team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be involved in the engineering design and delivery of mechanical building-services projects from concept and detailed design through to construction and handover. This opportunity would suit an engineer who has developed a solid technical foundation and is looking to continue growing within a consulting and project-driven environment. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical building-services design across a variety of building projects. • Perform engineering calculations, equipment selections and system sizing. • Design HVAC and associated mechanical systems. • Contribute to wet services, plumbing, hot water, piping and related building-services designs where applicable. • Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, schedules and technical documentation. • Work closely with BIM Modellers and Draughting teams to translate engineering designs into coordinated BIM models and drawings. • Review BIM models and drawings for technical accuracy. • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical and other engineering disciplines. • Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings. • Assist with tender documentation, technical evaluations and contractor queries. • Conduct site inspections and monitor installation quality and compliance with engineering designs. • Assist with testing, commissioning and project handover. • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and other professional consultants. • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards and project requirements. Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years' relevant mechanical design experience . • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, BEng/BSc Eng, or relevant BTech/BEngTech qualification. • Experience within building services / consulting engineering strongly preferred. • Practical experience designing HVAC and/or other mechanical building systems. • Good understanding of engineering calculations, equipment selection and system design. • Exposure to Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD advantageous. • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams. • Knowledge of relevant South African building regulations, codes and engineering standards. • ECSA Candidate registration or progress towards professional registration would be advantageous. Ideal Project Exposure Candidates with mechanical design experience across commercial buildings, offices, retail, residential developments, hotels, hospitals, data centres, warehouses, industrial facilities or mixed-use developments would be particularly relevant.
