Are you a dynamic, hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves seeing 3D concepts turn into real-world machinery?
We are a specialised manufacturing company based in Benoni, focused on innovative design solutions for the water/wastewater treatment and materials handling sectors. We’re looking for a sharp, adaptable engineer with out-of-the-box problem-solving skills to join our engineering team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- End-to-End Mechanical Design:
- Design mechanical equipment, components, and custom sub-assemblies.
- Translate concept hand sketches into fully detailed 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Site Survey & Reverse Engineering:
- Travel to sites to measure existing civil structures, plant layouts, and mechanical equipment to design accurate replacement spare parts.
- Procurement & Vendor Interaction:
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs) for parts and outsourced components, and evaluate incoming vendor quotes.
- Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Quality & Technical Documentation:
- Conduct quality control (QC) inspections on manufactured parts and assemble accurate Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Manufacturer Data Books (MDBs).
- Interpret, write, and review technical engineering specifications.
- Hands-on Shop Floor Support:
- Provide hands-on guidance during the fabrication, assembly, and testing of designed components and machinery.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Min 3-5year experience using SolidWorks
- Metric maths marks 60% and above
- Metric Engineering graphics and Design (EGD) 70% and above.
- Drivers’ licences code 08
- Mechanical national diploma N6/NQF6 (will be a plus)
- Candidates will be assessed on their 3D modelling ability, mechanical knowledge, and technical aptitude.
