Background

• Exciting career opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing company, to execute mechanical designs for small and medium transformers

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

• Higher National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the transformer industry

• Knowledge of mechanical design calculations / simulations

• Knowledge transformer manufacturing and its associated processes

• Ability to work with standard and customized design software

• Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks Software advantageous

• Syspro knowledge and or other ERP systems like SAP

• Proficient on (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Analyse, Interpret and maintain complex databases

• Execute mechanical design calculations (technical, parts, materials, etc)

• Execute mechanical designs for transformer active-parts and tanks

• Review designs of Peers and release engineering documentation for production

• Assist various departments (Sales, Proposals, Contracts, PCP, etc) with technical queries

• Analyse & interpret Customer specifications, schedules, special requirements, etc

• Analyse national and international technical standards, conduct research, etc.

• Train & support Junior Design Engineers (design, software, processes, etc)

• Participate in quality control / assurance activities (inspections, etc.) as required

• Assist in preparing, updating and reviewing technical standards
