- Design mechanical equipment for process plants, including piping systems, pressure vessels and storage vessels
- Develop and review 3D models and process plant layouts
- Interpret P&IDs and translate process requirements into mechanical designs
- Participate across the full project lifecycle from concept and detailed design through fabrication, installation and commissioning
- Prepare piping, valve and mechanical equipment specifications
- Review pressure equipment and piping fabrication packs
- Provide mechanical engineering input into process equipment datasheets
- Review vendor equipment drawings, datasheets and technical submissions
- Perform engineering calculations and solve design challenges using modern analysis software
- Work closely with process, piping, structural, electrical and other engineering disciplines
- Apply relevant international and South African pressure equipment and piping design codes
- Work alongside experienced Professional Engineers while developing towards greater technical responsibility
ð??? What We Are Looking For
- BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years' mechanical design experience
- Experience within process plants, piping, pressure equipment or related industrial environments
- Proficiency in 3D engineering/design software such as Autodesk Inventor and/or Plant 3D
- Sound understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering calculations
- Knowledge of relevant pressure equipment and piping codes, including ASME BPVC, ASME B31.1, SANS 347, EN 13480 and EN 13445
- Exposure to CAESAR II, CAEPIPE and/or PV Elite would be advantageous
- ECSA Professional Engineer registration or progress towards registration would be advantageous
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
