A specialist civil engineering materials testing operation in Ballito is looking for a capable Testing Supervisor – Soil & Concrete Laboratory to oversee day-to-day field, sampling and laboratory testing activities. This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid experience in soils, aggregates and concrete testing who enjoys coordinating people, managing workflow and maintaining high technical and quality standards. The laboratory is working towards ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation , giving the successful candidate the opportunity to play an important role in strengthening systems, quality and operational performance. Detail: Key Responsibilities Coordinate and supervise daily Field, sampling and testing activities (soils, aggregates, concrete) Ensure compliance with standard methods, quality assurance and Quality Management System (QMS) Manage workflow, turnaround times, and resource allocation Supervise, guide, and assess laboratory technicians, ensuring competency, performance, and adherence to quality Maintain equipment Operational Integrity and safe working conditions Perform testing as required to meet operational needs Review Raw data to ensure compliance with standard and QMS Support audits, quality investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives Consistently adhere to all quality and testing standards, and promptly report any deviations Minimum Requirements: Diploma in Civil Engineering or similar (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a formal qualification). 5+ years' experience as a senior Materials tester/Technican in soils and concrete testing (SANS) Experience working in an accredited laboratory environment (ISO/IEC 17025) would be an advantage. Experience in Road Construction Material Testing, including soil, aggregate, stabilized materials, and concrete testing. Solid understanding of SANS methods and laboratory workflow Strong organisational, communication, and leadership abilities Solid understanding of civil materials testing methods and laboratory workflow The perfect candidate for this role should be disciplined, respectful towards both colleagues and management, driven by deadlines and revenue, and energetic and passionate about achieving strategic objectives. Computer Literate. Fluent in English & Zulu Driver's license with minimum three years' driving experience. Previous Health & Safety experience will be an advantage. show more...
