Start free — we apply for you →Job Title: Materials Controller – Mining Projects Start Date: 2026-07-30 - 2026-08-29 Vacancy Type: Permanent PTA001800 Sectors: Logistics, Warehouse & Freight Mining and Quarrying Location: Gauteng , JHB - Southern Suburbs Salary: (Market related) Brief: materials controller|materials planner|warehouse controller|warehouse manager Materials Controller – Mining Projects One of our clients, a leading organisation within the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Materials Controller to join its team on a major mining project based in Heidelberg, Gauteng . The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the receipt, storage, issuing and control of project materials to ensure the efficient execution of mining and construction activities. The role requires close collaboration with procurement, warehouse personnel, project managers, engineers, contractors and suppliers to ensure materials are available when required while maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with company procedures. Detail: Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric). National Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehousing, Materials Management, Inventory Control, or a related field will be advantageous. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Materials Controller, Warehouse Controller, Warehouse Coordinator or Inventory Controller role within the mining, construction, EPCM or heavy industrial environment. Proven experience working on mining capital projects, shutdowns or construction projects. Strong understanding of inventory management, warehousing and materials control processes. Experience receiving, inspecting, storing and issuing project materials. Working knowledge of procurement processes, purchase orders, delivery notes and goods received procedures. Experience performing stock counts, inventory reconciliations and materials tracking. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel. Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Pronto, Oracle or similar inventory management systems. Strong organisational, administrative and record-keeping skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities. Willingness to work on-site in Heidelberg, Gauteng. Roles and Responsibilities: Materials Control Coordinate the receipt, storage, issuing and tracking of project materials. Ensure materials are accurately received, inspected and recorded upon delivery. Verify delivered materials against purchase orders, delivery notes and project specifications. Maintain accurate inventory records for all project materials. Monitor stock levels and ensure critical materials remain available to support project activities. Inventory & Warehouse Management Organise the safe storage and identification of materials within the warehouse and laydown areas. Conduct routine stock counts and inventory reconciliations. Monitor stock movements and investigate inventory discrepancies. Ensure materials are correctly labelled, stored and preserved to prevent damage or deterioration. Maintain housekeeping standards within warehouse and storage facilities. Procurement & Logistics Coordination Liaise with procurement regarding outstanding purchase orders and expected deliveries. Coordinate with suppliers to monitor material delivery schedules. Assist with expediting urgent materials required for project execution. Support logistics activities relating to the transportation and distribution of project materials. Ensure timely availability of materials to minimise project delays. Material Issuing & Tracking Issue materials to project teams, contractors and site personnel in accordance with authorised requests. Maintain detailed records of all material issues and returns. Track material usage against project requirements and report shortages. Monitor surplus, damaged or obsolete materials and recommend appropriate actions. Ensure traceability of critical project materials where required. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of goods received, stock movements and inventory transactions. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly inventory and materials reports. Compile reports on stock levels, material consumption and outstanding deliveries. Ensure all documentation is filed and maintained in accordance with company procedures. Support project audits by providing accurate inventory records and supporting documentation. Stakeholder Coordination Work closely with Procurement, Project Managers, Engineers, Warehouse Personnel, Contractors and Suppliers. Attend project coordination meetings to provide updates on material availability. Communicate potential material shortages or delivery delays to project teams. Support site personnel with material requests and inventory enquiries. Ensure effective coordination between procurement, warehouse and project execution teams. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with company inventory control procedures and warehouse management standards. Maintain accurate inventory records for audit purposes. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements relating to materials management. Promote adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards within warehouse and storage areas.
