About the role

  • Shoprite Africa Marketing is looking to appoint a Campaign Manager who will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and reporting of marketing campaigns across assigned African markets.
  • The role serves as the key link between country stakeholders, central marketing teams, agencies, suppliers, and operational partners to ensure the successful end-to-end delivery of campaigns in line with business objectives, commercial priorities, and brand standards.
  • In addition to managing country-specific campaigns, the role plays an important coordination function across multiple markets, ensuring campaign processes, timelines, assets, reporting, and stakeholder communication are effectively managed and aligned.
  • The Campaign Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence, maintaining campaign governance, and delivering campaigns that support growth, customer engagement, and brand consistency across the Africa portfolio.

What you'll do

Campaign Planning & Execution

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of marketing campaigns across assigned African markets, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives, trade plans, and marketing strategies.
  • Coordinate campaign development, implementation, and execution across multiple channels and touchpoints.
  • Ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed quality standards.
  • Facilitate effective communication and workflow between country teams, agencies, suppliers, operations teams, and internal stakeholders.

Coordination & Campaign Governance

  • Act as a central coordination point for campaign activity across multiple African countries.
  • Maintain campaign timelines, critical paths, and status reporting to ensure visibility and accountability across stakeholders.
  • Coordinate asset development, approvals, translations, localization requirements, and campaign deployment across markets.
  • Ensure campaign processes, templates, and governance standards are consistently applied across the Africa portfolio.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and potential delivery challenges, proactively implementing solutions to maintain campaign momentum.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with country teams, agency partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support country General Managers, Operations teams, Buying teams, and Marketing stakeholders in the successful execution of campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure campaigns are locally relevant while remaining aligned to broader brand and business objectives.

Campaign Reporting & Performance

  • Track campaign performance and delivery against agreed objectives and KPIs.
  • Coordinate post-campaign reporting and insights for stakeholders, suppliers, and leadership teams.
  • Consolidate campaign results and key learnings to inform future marketing activity and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to enhance campaign effectiveness, operational efficiencies, and customer engagement.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Manage campaign-related budgets, purchase orders, invoicing, and supplier administration accurately and timeously.
  • Ensure financial processes and controls are adhered to across all campaigns and markets.
  • Support reporting on campaign expenditure and budget performance where required.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve campaign planning, coordination, reporting, and execution processes.
  • Drive best practice sharing across countries and contribute to the ongoing development of campaign management capabilities within the Africa Marketing team.
  • Stay informed of market trends, customer insights, and emerging marketing opportunities relevant to African markets.

What you bring

  • BCom Marketing qualification or similar.
  • + 2years' experience in a campaign management role e.g., advertising/media with a track record of strong campaign management support and related activities.
  • A fast and enthusiastic learner with a passion for making things happen!

  • Marketing principles and practices.
  • Presentation skills - creative and analytical skills.
  • Commercial and business understanding of the broader retail industry.
