- To provide customer focused strategic, operational, governance, leadership, management, vision and a culture necessary to ensure that the BME Global Metallurgy Business has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, people and systems in place to effectively grow the organisation and ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Strategy Shaping
- Develops and ensure execution of BME Global metallurgy business strategy aligned to the innovation, transformation and corporate citizenship goals.
- Participate in the development of corporate strategy, providing functional leadership and challenge to test the viability of the strategy and contributing creative ideas and insights to support the strategy formation process
Financial Management and Control
- Take overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering the organization's global financial management and/or control strategy
Business Planning
- Direct the development of annual and longer-term business plans for Metallurgy, ensuring alignment with strategy; quantify business outcomes i.e. revenues or other KPIs; set operating expense and capital expense budgets; and review and approve business cases for projects and programs that have a global business impact
Leadership and Direction
- Communicate the organization's mission, vision and values, and its strategy for achieving these; set and communicate the strategy and broad action plan for delivering these within a strategic function; inspire a diverse global workforce to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
Customer Relationship Development/Prospecting
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with corporate senior executives of strategic international potential accounts to facilitate business acquisition and retention
- Leads the execution of proactive internal and external customer service excellence strategies and enable global scalability
Corporate Representation
- Represent BME in external relations with investors, clients, the public and others. Will focus on Metallurgy as a strategic function
Organizational Capability Building
- Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs for Metallurgy. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities. Embed personal development and the fulfilment of personal potential in the culture of the organization. Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and manage stakeholders up to C-suite level, finding out their needs/ issues/concerns and reacting to these by leading and coordinating the development of stakeholder engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions.
Improvement / Innovation
- Take overall responsibility for designing, developing and delivering an organizational change management strategy that achieves desired outcomes
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Post Graduate degree in engineering, accounting, economics or related qualification
- MBA / MBL or related post graduate business management degree
- Project Management Certification
Experience
- 7 to 10 years executive leadership level
- 5 years or more experience in a senior role in production and/or manufacturing and/or engineering business
- Demonstrable experience in developing and executing strategies and business plans
- Exposure in managing a multinational/global business
- Experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement management
- Proven people management experience and managing high-performance diverse teams
- Exposure to quality management systems, including six sigma, in a manufacturing/production environment
- Experience in governance, risk and compliance management
- Exposure to lean manufacturing initiatives including measurement and audit tools
Key Competencies
- Ability to develop and execute effective strategies and strategic plans
- The ability to continuously scan the macro environment and its implications on the business
- Understanding of financial concepts related to project evaluation, budgeting and financial forecasting, return on investment, cash flow analysis, and cost accounting, as well as financial measurement
- Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to direct and deliver professional product ideas and presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills used within a team environment and in client interaction with emphasis on excelling in relationship building
- Leadership and management proficiency, including sound people management processes
- Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients and effectively manage multiple priorities
