Managing Director: Apparel Retail Industry

Introduction

We are seeking a commercially driven and experienced Managing Director to lead a well-established apparel retail, manufacturing and distribution organisation. This is a hands-on executive leadership role suited to an individual with a proven track record in the apparel / fashion retail industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the company's strategic direction, operational excellence and commercial growth while maintaining strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders. Regular travel to regional operations and customers is required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company's strategic growth plans.

• Provide leadership across manufacturing, wholesale, retail and distribution operations.

• Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and increasing market share.

• Oversee the sales function, ensuring targets and profitability objectives are achieved.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and management teams.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, retailers, distributors, and strategic partners.

• Oversee procurement and supplier management to ensure cost-effective sourcing and efficient supply chain operations.

• Monitor inventory, production planning, and customer deliveries to ensure exceptional service levels.

• Identify operational efficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business.

• Manage financial performance, budgets, forecasting, and profitability.

• Travel regularly to regional branches, customers, suppliers, and operational sites.

• Ensure the business maintains high standards of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Degree in Business, Commerce, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (MBA advantageous).

• 10+ years' senior leadership experience within the apparel, clothing, fashion, or retail manufacturing / distribution industry.

• Proven experience managing manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and distribution operations.

• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of growing revenue and profitability.

• Experience leading large, cross-functional teams.

• Strong knowledge of procurement, supply chain management, and operational efficiencies.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.

• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout the regions.

Package & Remuneration

100k - 120k TCTC per annum + incentive bonus
