- Matric, 3-year National Diploma/Diploma/Degree in Public Administration or Public Management/Communications/Political Science NQF LEVEL 6/7 or relevant qualification in Local Government Intergovernmental relations. A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Intergovernmental Relations/Public Participation. Valid driver's licence.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of local government legislation and policies.
- Excellent communication skills, innovation & reporting.
- Legislation and Policy Analysing skills;
- High level of responsibility;
- Ability to give attention to detail;
- Computer literacy Ms Office with good presentation skills.
- Work after normal working hours, during emergencies and planned overtime;
- Ethical Conduct; and Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality;
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate and strengthen relationships between the municipality and provincial and national government departments.
- Coordinate participation in intergovernmental forums e.g. district, provincial and sector forums.
- Ensure alignment of municipal programmes with provincial and national priorities.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including the Intergovernmental Relations Framework Act and other governance frameworks.
- Contribute to the development and alignment of the Integrated Development Plan IDP.
- Provide advisory support to municipal departments on intergovernmental matters
