- The Floorplan Vehicle Inspection Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of field-based vehicle inspectors responsible for the physical verification of floorplan-financed vehicle inventory across dealer networks.
- The role is focused on protecting the bank's asset-based lending portfolio by ensuring financed vehicles are accurately identified, accounted for, and compliant with floorplan funding agreements and the relevant security.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Inspection Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of field-based vehicle inspectors.
- Establish inspection schedules and ensure effective regional coverage.
- Monitor inspector productivity, quality, and adherence to service level agreements.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and field audits.
- Develop inspection skills, risk awareness, and fraud detection capabilities within the team.
- Ensure inspectors maintain high standards of professionalism, accuracy, and integrity.
Floorplan Asset Verification
- Oversee the physical verification of all floorplan-funded vehicles.
- Ensure accurate validation of VIN numbers, engine numbers, registration details, stock numbers, and vehicle condition.
- Verify that vehicles funded by the bank are physically present at approved locations.
- Investigate missing, substituted, damaged, sold, or unreconciled stock.
- Ensure inspection reports accurately reflect inventory status and identified risks.
- Monitor dealer compliance with floorplan funding and stock control requirements.
Risk Management and Loss Prevention
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with floorplan-financed stock.
- Detect potential fraud, misrepresentation of assets, duplicate financing, and inventory manipulation.
- Drive proactive risk management initiatives to reduce portfolio losses.
- Escalate significant inventory variances and risk exposures to senior management.
- Monitor high-risk dealer portfolios and implement enhanced inspection controls where required.
- Ensure immediate action is taken when funded assets cannot be verified.
Collections and Recoveries Support
- Partner closely with Collections, Recoveries, Credit Risk, and Legal teams.
- Utilize collections and recoveries expertise to assess and mitigate collateral risk.
- Support dealer default management processes through accurate asset verification.
- Assist with vehicle tracing, recovery planning, repossession activities, and collateral realization strategies.
- Provide intelligence and asset visibility to support recovery efforts.
- Identify early warning signs of dealer distress and potential financial deterioration.
- Recommend interventions to reduce potential losses and maximize recoveries.
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with dealerships, dealer principals, inventory managers, and OEM representatives.
- Liaise with internal departments including Credit, Risk, Collections, Recoveries, Compliance, and Audit.
- Present inspection findings and risk assessments to senior stakeholders.
- Resolve operational issues impacting inspection activities and collateral management.
Governance, Compliance, and Audit
- Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, and risk frameworks.
- Maintain complete and accurate inspection records and audit trails.
- Support internal and external audits relating to floorplan facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements.
- Drive a culture of control, accountability, and operational excellence.
Reporting and Analytics
- Produce management reports on dealer inventory, inspection performance, and risk exposures.
- Analyze trends relating to stock shortages, aging inventory, dealer performance, and fraud incidents.
- Develop dashboards and reporting metrics to support decision-making.
- Provide recommendations to improve controls and reduce operational risk.
