Requirements
- Grade 12. A minimum qualification of Diploma / Degree in Communication / Media Studies / Journalism or Public Relations or equivalent qualification. Minimum of 03 - 05 years relevant experience of which 02 years at supervisory level. Valid driver's license. Computer literacy: MS Office.
Purpose of the Job
- Plans and directs the procedures, operations and critical communications and public relations outcomes associated with communication. Providing support to the Municipal Manager, Mayor and the entire institution as the chief communicator. Develops and executes communication strategies. Protects the municipality's reputation and the corporate image. Writing speeches for the political office bearers. Informing residents about public services, council decisions, and developmental programs. Aligns local messaging with national and provincial government goals. Oversees municipal branding and corporate identity. Writes and distribute official press releases and media statements. Responds to daily media queries and arrange interviews and monitors news coverage and prepares media analysis reports. Executes high level stakeholder management and liaison.
