Introduction

The vacancy exists within the Office of the COO in the Operations Division and reports directly to the COO. The purpose of the role is to lead the organisation’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy and AI-driven supervisory solutions, transforming how regulatory insights are generated, risks are detected and supervised, and how operational efficiency is achieved through intelligent automation.

The successful candidate will lead the design and implementation of AI solutions that are scalable and performant, while also being auditable, explainable and ethically grounded. The role will drive AI innovation and transformation, business adoption, governance and the effective use of data analytics to support organisational objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the organisation’s AI strategy and operating model.
  • Provide strategic direction on AI-driven supervisory solutions and intelligent automation.
  • Lead AI governance and ethical oversight, ensuring AI solutions are auditable, explainable and ethically grounded.
  • Drive business adoption of AI solutions and support change management initiatives.
  • Lead model selection and architecture to ensure appropriate, scalable and performant AI solutions.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of AI solutions.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate policies, systems, processes and procedures relating to AI and data analytics.
  • Drive AI innovation and transformation across the organisation.
  • Ensure data analytics, data quality and data accessibility support effective AI solutions and organisational decision-making.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and collaboration across relevant business and technology areas.
  • Provide effective financial and commercial management relating to AI and data analytics initiatives.
  • Apply sound governance and risk management principles to AI initiatives.
  • Ensure business alignment and appropriate response strategies in support of organisational objectives.
  • Promote knowledge management and the effective use of analytical capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and promote teamwork, professionalism and organisational awareness.
  • Apply strong problem-solving, conceptual thinking and innovation skills to complex AI and data-related challenges.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) will be advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications in AI, Machine Learning, Cloud Technologies or Data Science will be beneficial.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the technology domain .
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading AI initiatives at scale , ideally gained within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in technology innovation, digital transformation, advanced analytics or related areas will be highly advantageous.
  • Registration with a professional body.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of governance and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills with an analytical and conceptual approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong business alignment and response strategy capabilities.
  • Understanding of ethics, knowledge management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong accountability, self-management and results-management capabilities.
  • Professionalism, self-confidence and organisational awareness.
  • Strong problem-solving and innovation capabilities.
  • Excellent teamwork, relationship-building, conflict-management and interpersonal skills, with tact and discretion.
